🏗️ Why and When Was It Built?
The Izmir Clock Tower was built in 1901 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Sultan Abdulhamid II’s ascension to the Ottoman throne.
It was commissioned by a committee led by Governor Kıbrıslı Kâmil Pasha, his son Said Pasha, and Mayor Eşref Pasha.
