Melik Gazi Tomb: The Legacy of the Mengujekids in Kırşehir
Located in the city center of Kırşehir, the Melik Gazi Tomb is one of the most impressive architectural structures from the Seljuk period. Built in the 13th century by the wife of Behram Shah from the Mengujekid dynasty, this monumental tomb stands out with its octagonal body on a square base, representing a significant example of Seljuk tomb architecture.
The tomb was constructed to honor rulers and statesmen of the period. Inside, there is a sarcophagus believed to belong to Behram Shah. Despite undergoing several restorations over time, it has preserved its original Seljuk stone craftsmanship and aesthetic details.
