The Headquarters of the National Struggle
The Akşehir Western Front Headquarters Museum is one of the most critical locations where key decisions of the Turkish War of Independence were made. On November 18, 1921, the building was assigned as the headquarters of the Western Front Command and remained an essential military planning center until August 24, 1922. The preparations and strategic decisions for the Great Offensive were made here.
In 1964, the building was transferred to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and on July 5, 1966, it was opened to the public as the Atatürk and Ethnography Museum. After further renovations in 1981, it was renamed the Western Front Headquarters Museum. The most recent restoration was completed on July 5, 2001, bringing the museum to its current state.
