The Eternal Resting Place of Anatolian Seljuk Sultans
One of the most significant historical structures in Konya, the Alâaddin Tomb was built in honor of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultans. There is no other conical tomb of this size and height in Turkey. Located atop Alâaddin Hill, the structure boasts a majestic and elegant appearance.
It is believed that the tomb was originally covered entirely in Seljuk-era tiles, though today, only traces of these decorations remain. Commissioned by Sultan Kılıçarslan II, this tomb is considered one of the finest examples of Seljuk architecture.
Seljuk Sultans Buried in Alâaddin Tomb
The Alâaddin Tomb is the final resting place of some of the most important rulers of the Anatolian Seljuk State. The eight sultans buried here are:
