History of the Atatürk Museum
The building that now serves as the Atatürk Museum was built in 1912 as a two-story residence. On July 19, 1928, the people of Konya gifted this house to Atatürk as a token of their respect, and it was officially registered with the note:
"A gift from the people of Konya to President Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha."
🛡 Between 1940 and 1963, the building was used as the Governor’s Mansion.
📜 On December 17, 1964, it was opened to visitors as the “Atatürk House Cultural Museum”.
🏛 In 1981, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Atatürk’s birth, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism restored the building, and in 1982, it was reopened as the “Atatürk Museum”.
🔧 Between 2001 and 2003, it underwent further restoration by the General Directorate of Monuments and Museums of the Ministry of Culture.
