Discovery of Vasada Ancient Theater
Discovered in 1969 during the construction of a water reservoir in Bostandere, Vasada Ancient Theater is one of the most significant archaeological remains in Konya. Identified as a structure from the Roman period, this theater, with a capacity of approximately 3,000 people, offers valuable insights into the cultural and social life of its time.
Excavations, led by the Konya Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, have uncovered the seating rows, orchestra, and stage sections to a great extent. Once the general cleaning process is completed, the theater is expected to be opened to visitors with more extensive restoration projects.
