History of the Konya Archaeological Museum
Established in 1901, the Konya Archaeological Museum moved to its current building in 1962. As one of the oldest museums in Turkey, it serves as a unique discovery point for history enthusiasts, showcasing artifacts that illuminate different periods of Anatolia’s rich past.
The museum houses artifacts unearthed from archaeological excavations in and around Konya, covering a broad historical range from the Neolithic Age to the Byzantine Period. Artifacts from excavation sites such as Çatalhöyük, Erbaba, Süberde, Sızma, Karahöyük, Kıcıkışla, Sille, Çumra, Alibeyhöyük, and Alaeddin Hill highlight the region’s rich cultural heritage dating back to prehistoric times.
