One of the Most Important Madrasas of the Seljuk Era
Sırçalı Madrasa was built in 1242 by Bedreddin Muslih for the purpose of teaching Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh). An outstanding example of Seljuk architecture, the madrasa is designed in the “Open Courtyard” style and is particularly notable for its magnificent iwan and exquisite tile decorations.
For many years, it served as one of the most important educational centers in Konya. Today, the lower floor hosts Fiqh discussions in accordance with its original purpose, while the upper floor is used by the Directorate of Surveying and Monuments.

🏛 Iwan and Classrooms
🔹 The main iwan is considered one of the most striking elements of Seljuk architecture.
🔹 On the right and left of the iwan, there are two domed rooms, which were traditionally used as winter classrooms.
🔹 The iwan is slightly elevated from the courtyard by three steps.
🔹 A mihrab with tile decorations is located on the southern wall
