About
🏛️ Kızlarağası Han – A Timeless Ottoman Gem in the Heart of İzmir
Step into the past right in the center of modern İzmir.
Kızlarağası Han, one of the best-preserved Ottoman inns in the city,
welcomes visitors with its elegant architecture, rich history,
and the enchanting atmosphere of the Kemeraltı Bazaar.
📜 A Glimpse into History
Commissioned in 1744 by Hacı Beşir Ağa,
who served as Dârüssaâde Agha (Chief Black Eunuch) during the reigns of Sultan Ahmed III and Sultan Mahmud I,
Kızlarağası Han has stood the test of time as a rare example of Ottoman architecture in İzmir.
Although a fountain inside the han bears the inscription 1675,
it is believed that the fountain was relocated from elsewhere,
or that an earlier fountain once stood on the same spot before the han was constructed.
