Serbanşah Mosque: A Historical and Architectural Masterpiece
Serbanşah (Savranşah) Mosque was built in 1882 by Ömer Ağa and is one of the finest examples of Ottoman stone and wood craftsmanship that has survived to this day. Constructed with rubble stone, brick, and adobe, the mosque’s walls and interior wooden details reflect the traditional architectural characteristics of the period.
🕌 Architectural Features
The mosque has a longitudinal rectangular plan with three aisles.The mihrab is semi-circular with a muqarnas design, featuring intricate decorative elements.The wooden minbar is crafted in the kündekari technique, adorned with stylized floral motifs and relief carvings.The upper row windows have pointed arches with plaster latticework and stained glass.The roof of the last congregation area is an extension of the mosque’s main roof.📜 Entrance Inscription and Decorative Elements
Above the entrance door, an inscription reads “Didi tarih bir müferrah mabet oldu çehriya”. The arch of the entrance is decorated with geometric and stylized relief-carved spolia stone panels.
