Çavuşin: The Historic Rock Village of Cappadocia
One of the oldest settlements in Cappadocia, Çavuşin Village stands out with its historic rock-carved houses, impressive churches, and the stunning natural landscapes of the surrounding valleys. Located on the Göreme-Avanos road, Çavuşin attracts visitors with its hiking trails and alternative tourism routes. Trails through Red Valley (Kızılçukur), Rose Valley (Güllüdere), and White Valley (Akvadi) offer nature lovers and adventure seekers a unique experience.
Throughout history, Çavuşin has been an important living space for Christian monks, traders, and the local Cappadocian people. The rock-carved houses here were actively used until the 1960s, but due to erosion and rock collapses, the village was eventually abandoned. However, with the rise of tourism in recent years, Çavuşin has begun to revive while preserving its traditional charm, offering visitors a truly authentic atmosphere.
