Ottoman Heritage in Nevşehir: Kurşunlu Mosque and Complex
Located in the heart of Cappadocia, Kurşunlu Mosque and Complex was built between 1726-1727 by Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pasha, the famous Grand Vizier of the Tulip Era. As one of the last examples of classical Ottoman külliye (complex) architecture, it consists of a mosque, madrasah, caravanserai, primary school (sıbyan mektebi), public kitchen (imaret), bathhouse (hamam), and two fountains.
Reflecting the historical character of Nevşehir, this complex is considered one of the most significant cultural legacies of the Ottoman period, with both religious and social structures.
