Declared a National Park and Wildlife Protection Area by the Ministry of Forestry, this region offers a rich ecosystem, making it a prime destination for scientists, nature enthusiasts, and photographers.

🧭 Located northeast of Ulugöl Tepe (2,261 m), one of the peaks of Mount Sandras, the area features the "Kartal Lake Glacial Valley," which stretches approximately 1.5 km in length and 500-700 meters in width. This valley showcases distinct glacial erosion and deposition formations.

Turkey’s Oldest Black Pine Forest 🌲

🌿 The surroundings of Kartal Lake are famous for their "Monumental Forest," an invaluable natural heritage for the scientific community. The massive black pine trees in this forest range in age from 250 to 700 years, forming a rare and unique forest ecosystem.

🌾 In addition to black pine, the area is rich in alpine vegetation. The region is abundant in wildflowers such as dandelions, yellow-flowered lotus, clover, and various meadow plants.

🐟 Kartal Lake is a moraine-dammed lake formed in the glacial valley, hosting small fish species.
