Built at an altitude of 186 meters above sea level,
Kadifekale was commissioned by Alexander the Great in the 3rd century BC,
and constructed by one of his generals, Lysimachos.
🛡️ A Fortress Standing for Over 2300 Years
Spread across an area of approximately 6 kilometers,
Kadifekale has served as a strategic military stronghold through the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods.
Today, visitors can still explore:
- Northern and western walls of the fortress
- Five preserved towers, ranging between 20 and 35 meters in height
- The remains of a Byzantine-era cistern,
- And the ruins of a small mosque within the castle grounds
These structures offer insight into the castle’s historical significance and architectural endurance.
